I used to travel to Manchester every weekend to a large bookseller and come back with a book or two, I still have about a hundred in all, Juliette Dymoke, Nigel Trantor, Alfred Duggan, Graham Shelby and Several by Jean Plaidy. Many more fine historical writers but none are in the same league as George Shipway. His writing is simply wonderous , and the imagery floods out of every sentence. He is the absolute best and I have read the Paladin so often my wife thinks my memory has gone. Amazingly I look at the back of these book of his and see the price... 39p. I adored Imperial Governor, quite simply the best novel ever written about Roman Britain and the Boudiccan Revolt (though for a more modern take I'd also recommend The Horse Coin by David Wishart). And we also have four of his novels now as ebooks on Amazon! Which is fantastic news. I am just hoping they also publish The Chilian Club, which I am very keen to read.
Best wishes TimTim Bowlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14905332360786054565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8386262.post-79722518250437170422015-11-24T05:56:14.085+00:002015-11-24T05:56:14.085+00:00The post is written in very a good manner and it c...The post is written in very a good manner and it contains many useful information for me.
Residential cleaning
office cleaningAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16956255390136501768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8386262.post-41113107536274674092015-10-28T09:36:17.669+00:002015-10-28T09:36:17.669+00:00At Linda's suggestion, I have added a link to ...At Linda's suggestion, I have added a link to this blog on Shipway's Wiki page at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Shipway Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00494152175000174745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8386262.post-64480657867296846122015-08-20T20:03:52.391+00:002015-08-20T20:03:52.391+00:00plus "Warrior in Bronze" !

I've come to Shipway because Paulinus features in my latest novel and I'm near speechless with admiration for 'Imperial Governor'. To learn how many books he wrote, across such a broad span of history, in such a short period of time makes me think we are in the presence of genius. Do you know who holds the rights? Can they not be persuaded to make the novels available as ebooks? The entry on Shipway in Wikipedia is minimal. Could you add to it, if only by linking to your article? Well done for this work of devotion.Linda Proudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01668308760401154023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8386262.post-86937356072296736562014-02-12T20:55:24.692+00:002014-02-12T20:55:24.692+00:00Thanks Mike! Some have a year's worth of bricks stockpiled and unbought.
In Leeds,I can think of numerous old brickyard sites, now covered over with industrial buildings or houses. No one made a greater impression on me during my education. Alan is correct in thinking that he was frightening in appearance to any small boy meeting him for the first time. No one misbehaved in his classes - as much as anything they were just too interesting. He seemed very tall to me then, more so than the other teachers. His eyes suggested that warmth and a sense of humour lurked beneath the leathery folds of skin, brows and moustache.Occasionally he would ask us 'extra curricular' questions that we were unlikely to be able answer. Even now, I am proud of getting one of these right: Aged about 10, I alone in that class had heard of an island called Guadalcanal and stammered some jibberish about the Japanese and American marines. George was momentarily shocked with surprise. It's a treasured memory, to have impressed him, even just once.Bob Evanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09039160433358897875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8386262.post-1143530834891711072006-03-28T07:27:00.000+00:002006-03-28T07:27:00.000+00:00I had to pay quite a lot to assemble the complete ...I had to pay quite a lot to assemble the complete set in order write my article in "Solander".
